Swiss hig-end luxury watches maker DeWitt watches recently enriched its well-received Academia collection with Dewitt Blackstream Triple Complication GMT3 watch. According to the official saying, this watch , inspired by sports world, is meant to attract those young rich men.

Compared with precious Academia GMT3 model, this new Dewitt watch has noticeable changes in style, shape and colors. As the new suggest , the watch features black and streamlined design which is said to be inspired by aviation world

The dial, in black velvet color, features sunray pattern. The time display dial is located at the lower part of the dial as there is night & day display with a yellow sun and a blue starring night sky at the upper. The time display dial may reminds you of the plane’s cockpit, while the design of the night & day display presents a fuselage of a plane with its elongated and rounded bridge. What is more, there is two aerodynamic “radiator-grilles” located at 3 and 9 o’clock. And the symbol of Bewitt is found at 6 o”clock.

The watch case, sized at 44mm, is mainly made from grade 5 titanium and black pvd and has some rubber inserts. The case comes with the brand’s signature imperial columns and an external bezel. Review of DeWitt Twenty-8-Eight Watch

The past two years have been a bit difficult for DeWitt. As a Swiss watch maker, they used to make not a few attractive luxury watches that made what Dewitte was. But now this brand still has a hard time and they are struggling to move on.

dewitt-twenty-8-eight-watch

One shining point of Dewitt watches is the castle rimmed” bezels which always deliver a instant royal feel. And Dewitt used to release highly complicated watches that were beautiful and interesting. However, it seems that Dewitt walks a bit far from its way with some boring new models. Take DeWitt Twenty-8-Eight Watch for example. It really pales before the brand’s exclusive regal looking watches and looks like a cheap replica watch..

Sized at 43mm, the watch is presented on 18k rose gold. Aside from an the guilloche-engraved  complex dial and the signature columns at watch sides, the watch has no big shining points. The big problem, in my problem, is that it is watch has no soul and clear theme. According to Dewitt,  the designs on this watch is part of their brand evolution. While I agraee that the brand need mid-priced models to hold on, I am afraid they are on a wrong way as they may lose their most important customer section.

And I notices that the hands are too small and short for the dial. What is wrong with Dewitt watches. The watch is powered by DeWitt caliber DWT8AU automatic movement. The watch will be limited to 500 pieces. I worry about the sales of this piece given it has no soul and lovable style.

DeWitt Academia Seconde Retrograde Serenity was an unforgettable timepiece at 2009 Baselworld. Backed by the rich heritage of Dewitt, Academia Seconde Retrograde Serenity is a handsome watch with sharp lines and perfect dimensions. It is also born with imperial nobility. As stated before, DeWitt is a relatively young watch brand created by descendant s of Napoleon. That is reason behind it endows very model with noble feel. Obviously, Academia Seconde Retrograde is not an exception.

The angular case comes with a diameter of 43mm and is presented on rose gold or white gold. To my eyes, white gold version is quite appealing. The bezel still features the iconic imperial columns. The black dial features raised motifs and sunburst guilloché motif. The retrograde seconds is displayed on a fan-shaped design at 6 o’clock, bringing a much more contemporary feel. After finishing a circle on the arc, the black seconds hand, like a dancer, elegantly jumps back to the zero position and will began a new journey on the fixed route soon. The harmonious color combination also a wow to this watch. And the overall finishing on this watch is second to none, reflecting Dewitt’s fine craftsmanship. It is true that DeWitt spares no effort to make every timepiece excellent and highly recognizable. And DeWitt watches are  the most difficult to be copied by replica watch manufacturers in the world.

Except a handsome appearance that is elegant and harmonious, Dewitt artisans also endowed this limited edition with a strong heart – Calibre DW1002, a mechanical self-winding movement with a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement beats at 28,800 AH.

DeWitt Academia Seconde Retrograde Serenity is a perfect blend of DeWitt’s  know-how, bold creativity, quest for perfection and calls for nobility. It will definitely appeal to watch lovers who appreciate exceptional design and exquisite movements.

DeWitt Watch is Up-and-Coming

DeWitt has few watch series as having a history of 6 years. However, no one will look down upon this brand which is established by the the later generation of Napoleon brothers. DeWitt made an instant hit at the very beginning and is still highly hot today. Will DeWitt keep its popularity? Here come four watch models from DeWitt.

Academia Tourbillon Force Constante Rubies

dewitt-academia-tourbillon-force-constante-rubies

Academia Tourbillon Force Constante Rubies was launched in 2006 and became the representative work of DeWitt. All mechanical movement produce different torque force when spring drum tenses and relaxes. The torque force discrepancy may cause the inaccuracy of watch. The watch-makers  from DeWitt created the constant force system and solved the said problem. The system has gotten patent and pushed DeWitt to another high at the same time.

Academia Tourbillon Force Constant uses DW 8003 manual wound movement. The constant force system, firstly, collects power through a group of cross inertia wheels and store it into a constant force mechanism. Then it passes the power once per 10 seconds to tourbillon system to drive the spring at the bottom of cross inertia wheel to ensure that the force power sent to the tourbillon keeps constant.

On the dial, there shows the constant power window at 8 o’clock while the tourbillon window appears at 5 o’clock. The hour-minute dial is located at 12 o’clock. When first introduced in 2006, the watch had only platinum case and was limited to 25 pieces. In 2007, the 18k rose gold and white gold versions were added to the collection with delicate hand-carved grid patterns. Diamond may be inlaid on the bezel, case, lug, crown and buckle of these two models. In addition, there is a model features white gold case with rubies decoration. Any compliment pales before the beauty of those rubies. The only pity is that to set rubies, DeWitt’s iconic “imperial pillar” bezel and case has been abandoned.
Academia Quantieme Perpetual Sport

If you are tired of the shape of regular perpetual calendar watch, the Academia Quantieme Perpetual Sport may be a nice solution. This perpetual calendar watch is powered by DW 7004 automatic movement which has Geneva seal. The dial has equipped with traditional three hands at the center, date and day of week display at 3 and 5 respectively, moon phase at 6 and month and leap year indicator at 12. The dial is presented on carbon fibre while date and day of week indicators receive skeleton treatment. The case is made from titanium, rubber and 18k white gold. The sapphire crystal case back reveals the movement.

Acadenua Chronographe Sequentiel Sport

How to get one chronograph watch that could highlight your own personality when there are so many chronograph watches in the market? Acadenus Chronographe Sequentiel Sport, the chronograph from DeWitt, makes it stand out with a delicate small seconds dial at 9 o”clock with target design. Connecting to the small seconds is a fan design that looks like windmill. When small seconds subdial runs, it shows a scene of movement. The 43mm case is crafted from titanium and is adorned with 18k rose gold and rubber. Either black or white rubber strap is available for this exquisite and sporty chronograph.

La Dame De Pressy

In 2006, Claude D. Proellochs, the general counsel of DeWitt, said that DeWitt would launch classic and traditional ladies watch. La Dame de Pressy is the one. Its tonneau 18k white gold case houses a manual wound skeleton movement whose plate has exquisite engravings. The whole watch is set with 484 Diamonds, amount to 4.3 carats. La Dame de Pressy is limited to 25 pieces.
