Patek Philippe Ladies First Chronograph Ref. 7071R and CH 29-535 PS caliber

Patek Philippe Ladies First Chronograph Ref. 7071R

Early November, Patek Philippe proudly unveiled its CH 29-535 PS caliber and the Ref. 7071R “Ladies First Chronograph” in Paris.

The Ref. 7071R, inspired by Patek Philippe’s Art Deco watch from 1930s, features a cusion-shaped case with rounded angles, warm rose gold tone, ergonomic rectangular pushers and flutd crown. The look is handsome, mature and a little retro, but most importantly, very unique.. The case is sized at 39mm, a little big for a women’s watch.

Patek Philippe Ref. 7071R

There are two dial options: one in black with fine guilloched pattern, and the other one in silvery opaline. The dial is completed by large leaf-shaped hands, two off-center subdials for small seconds and the 30-minute counter and exceptional diamond decoration at the edge. Protecting the dial of fabulous arrangement is a slightly domed sapphire-crystal glass. And I have to say the legibility of the dial is second to none.

Patek Philippe Ladies First Chronograph

And the CH 29-535 PS caliber that beats inside the Ref. 7071R is really something. Based on the classic construction of column-wheel control and a geared clutch system though, it is actually a great materpiec that holds six patented innovations.Aside from the 4Hz frequency and the 65-hour power reserve, the movement has a stop seconds function and aesthetic designs that mean to present how how movements in the 1930s were presented. And this movement is beautifully displayed at the rear. I believe the join of this in-house made manually wound chronograph movement will make Ref. 7071R more attractive to women who appreciate fine watch mechanics.

CH 29-535 PS caliber

In my humble opinion, Patek Philippe starts a new page in women’s luxury watches by combinining fine designs and high-end features of the chronograph movement. And Ref. 7071R, with various reptile strap colors, will be choice of modern sophisticated women who can afford a huge amount of 51,000 euros..

Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 and Marlon Brando’s Vacheron Constantin at Antiquorom’s Auction

The Antiquorom’s auction will be held on Septemper 17th in New York City. And among those timepieces to be auctioned off, I find two exceptional timepieces. One is the Vacheron Constantin watch Zsa Zsa Gabor for Marlon Brando and the other one is the Patek Philippe Ref. 2499. The former was produced around 1954 the year when it was given to Marlon Brando by Gabor and now it looks old and a little tarnished while the latter made in the early 1980s is still in great condition.

 Marlon Brando Vacheron Constantin Watch

I do not know much about the Marlon Brando’s Vacheron Constantin watch except the fact that it was a gift from Zsa Zsa Gabor on June 24, 1954 when when “On The Waterfront” was released in theaters,  according the engraving done by hand on the case. And as far as I know of , the movie was a huge success. It won the the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Actor for Brando as well. This Vacheron Constantin has a gold case and features guilloche engraved dial and the interesting engraving on the case back.. No doubt, it is a commemorative watch, a highly personalized watch and a luxury watch either in 1954 or at present. But the Antiquorom’s auction estimates have this watch going for just $3,000 – $8,000. Does the appearance really count something?

Patek Philippe Ref. 2499

Regarded by many as one of the best luxury timepieces ever created in the planet, the Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 is in 18k yellow gold and sized at 36mm at diameter. Powered by the movement with the seal of Geneva, it comes with the desirable perpetual calendar and chronograph functions, moon phase indicator. The design, quality and the function represents the highest level of Patek Philippe watch making. Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 is very rare and very valuable now.  Thus , I think Antiquorum’s estimate of $250,000 – $350,000 is conservative.

These two timepieces will be at  Antiquorum’s auction on September 17th in New York City

Discover PateK Philippe Horologe Museum-Nothing is Impossible in Horologe World

Idolreplicas.info today guides you to Patek Phillipe Horologe Museum which is  located the center of Geneva. In 1920s, this place was a famous jewelry workshop. From 1975, it became Patek Philippe spare parts factory. Later, it received comprehensive repairs and became today’s top-class horologe museum, driven by the wife of Patek Phillipe President.

Patek Phillipe Horologe Museum-Book Collection

Patek Phillipe Horologe Museum-Book Collection

The first floor of the museum revives the early watch workshop that first appeared 500 years ago. More than 400 pieces of old tools and machine help us to understand how watch-makers worked at that time. The second floor exhibits all kinds of Patek Philippe watches ever created since 1839. You will see how two pioneers of Patek Philippe achieve their promise o make the most valuable masterpieces in the world. The third floor collects the most valuable watches(more than pieces) that were highly popular in Europe between 16th century and 17th century. They are the most important part of the collection. In addition, the museum collects 4000+ horologe books and 700+ company documents.

Patek Phillipe Horologe Museum presents the 500-year development of Geneva watch industry. And the most important point is that it shows Swiss’ endless pursuit for watch craftwork. Walking in the museum, you may find that in the world of watches, nothing is impossible.

Sacrifice for love by Pierre Jaquet Droz

In Geneva, Watch-maker Pierre Jaquet- Droz and his son were famous for their love to making complex decorative watches. The “Sacrifice for love” created in 1785 is one of their works. The bezel is paved with pearls and crystals. The bird on the dial can sing regularly.

As far as we known, this is the oldest watch in the world.Created by a Germany watch-maker in 1540, it witnesses the whole evolution of horologe civilization. It was crafted from brass and coated with gold. A 100% mechanical masterpiece.

Mother Love – Watch Sold to China

Mother Love - Watch Sold to China

Mother Love - Watch Sold to China

China was one of the biggest market of Geneva watches between 18th and19th century. Chinese market was regarded as the most profitable. At that time, countless exquisite watches and relevant products entered China. The royal family and relatives were the major consumers. The “Mother Love” is one excellent example. Made in 1809, the mother love features exquisite enamel and double-layer surface. One of the best at that period.

The First World Time Watch

The world time watch was created around 1790. It looks like a round box. The dial is engraved with 53 city names. It tells time difference through 24 hours. In 1939, Patek Philpe created a world time watch that needed no case and key. It can tell time of 23 different places at the same time.

This pocket watch combines color enamel, print with etching art . In about 1645, Paris watch-maker Antoine Mazurier revived the works of Jacques Callot and Matthaus Merian. The religious-theme also reflects the Protestant Revolution greatly influenced watch industry at that time.

Notes: The visit to Patek Phillipe Museum is a stirring one. I am wondering what makes Switzerland a splendid watch kingdom? It is just because Swiss love precise industry? Or because the Protestant Revolution brought Switzerland-the first Protestant country lots of handicraftsmen from France and other European countries. In my humble opinion, the key element is that Swiss respect watch craftwork. On almost every antique watch, you can find the name of its designer or maker. And every milestone invention would be commemorated again and again. In the museum, I saw the most precise techniques and the inventions of striking inventions. I think, it is the respect to watch gives birth to Patek Philippe, Piaget and other watch brands that keep demanding for perfection. It is the respect to watches that makes Geneva watches always stand out of the industry.

Patek Philippe Ladies Calatrava 4897R Patek Philippe Ladies Calatrava 4897R -Angle

In response to the growing demand for ultra-thin ladies timepieces, Patek Philipe created the ultra-thin mechanical Calatrava for ladies three years ago. This year, Patek Philippe unvailed another new ladies’s Calvatrava – Ref. 4897 in 18K rose gold after the white gold Ref. 4896G.It is a warm feminine watch with seductive elegance.

The dial features a unique combination of chocolate hue and rose gold faceted hands and arrow-headed hour markers. The layout of hour markers offers a harmonious and fascinating contrast with the concentrically guilloched wave pattern. Like all Calatrava watches, the 4897R offers ultimate clear reading of hours and minutes under a sapphire crystal cover. The bezel is set with 72 top wesselton round diamonds, which looks amazing on this watch.

The 33m 18K rose gold case houses Caliber 215 automatic movement. It is an in-house ultra-thin movement designed and developed independently by Patek Philippe. In my humble opinion, the 4897 could be regard as the best dress watch in 2009 with amazing color combination, unassuming luxury and subtly feminine elegance.

Patek Philippe Ref.5098 Chronometro Gondolo and Cal.25-21REC

Four decades ago, Petek Philippe offered customer with Cal. 9-90. You could get a Petek Philippe watch with this retangular basic movement. It was also 40 years ago that Petek Philippe stopped producing its only rectangular basic movement-Cal. 9-90. Therefore, people had to turn to Ref. 3939 that used Cal.215. Of course, it was not an important matter for those who are born to like rounded wristwatches or people who are suitable for rounded watches. However, to those who have a natural temperament to wear rectangular watches like REVERSO, it meant a destinated miss.  After all, to any one, it is a great honor to be able to wear Petek Philippe.

pp-5098

Finally, 40 years later, Patek Philippe launched the vintage edition of Cal.9-90: new Cal.25-21 REC. REC is not abbreviation of some what complex functions but a simple label of this rectangular movement. Compared with the original one, new REC movement looks much slender. It is 24.6mm by 21.5mm at dimension while old Cal.9-90 has a dimension of 25.6mm by 18mm. Obviously, the width is increased quite a bit. Considering the characteristics of modern movements, Petek Philippe puts the height in place: new REC is reduced by 1mm at height compared with original model.

Balance, naturally, is invaluable asset of Petek Philippe. New Rec uses GYROMAX double-arm 8 weight super balance. At the same time , Petek Philippe equips the rectangular basic ultra-thin movement with flat spring, which is great break for Petek Philippe that uses wind-up spring in great quantity. The frequency is also improved to 28,800VPH. The plate design, to a great extent, copies that of the classic Cal.9-90. It adopts the general design of ancient wristwatches: the central train bridge presents a s shape while the balance bridge, escapement bridge and minute train bridge branch out from the perimeter zone of the movement, The brushing and polishing , without any doubts, conform with Geneva rules. Five positions timing is used to ensure this top-brand basic wristwatch working will not pale beside COSC Standard. Except Geneva logo, this movement also gets chronometer certification.

To bring back the style 40 years ago, Petek Philippe spares no effort to make the case perfect: the case has a tonneau shape while to case back slightly arches to meet the wrist line. The hands features classic design, like those hands used on desk clocks that appeared in Chinese market in 1970s or even earlier period. The exquisite patten on the dial spreads from center to all around while classic Arabic numerals surround the center part. In a word, the dial is really interesting and attractive.

Last but no least, let us look at the buckle. Petek Philippe abandons the consistently used folding clasp and matches this Chronometro Gondolo Vintage Edition with pin buckle which was used long time ago.

40 years later, another Petek Philippe rectangular basic movement shows up. Just mourn for those who waited for a long time but could not wait till it appeared again.
