Review of Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary Watch

At the Baselworld 2010, Omega watches presented a new limited edition Speedmaster Professional watch which pays tribute to the great cooperation between the US and the USUR that launched the the Apollo-Soyuz spacecraft in 1935. And that is why the new Omega watch is called Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo-Soyuz 35th Anniversary Watch and is limited to 1975 piece world wide. To my knowledge, this mission was the firs internatiaonal space fight, and it was the last mission that had a space shuffle with “Apollo” in the name.

Basically, the watch is quite same as other Speedmaster Professional watches –with the same steel case design and is also powered by a hand-wound mechanical chronograph movement. The main differences are at the dial and on the case back.. The dial is made from meteorite , and the effect is very cool. The subdials are given gray tone to contrast with the main dial. And the case back has special engraving which depicts the historical space mission. Personally, I think these are biggest features of this new Speedmaster Professional watch.

Since this watch respect the heritage of space flights and the moon landing, this watch will sure attract people who love this field and those whose have special feeling to the Speedmaster Professional watches. And it will probably do same good to the NASA-the US government is now considering closing this very important US treasure.

Omega Constellation Goes to Be Top Ladies Watch Line

In the past year, I did reviews on not a few new models in the Omega Constellation. And the last post was about Omaga holiday season 2009 collection. Not sure if the two new Constellation included in that collection sold well or not in the holiday season, but I could feel and I am sure now that Omega has made the Constellation their most important lady’s watch line. If you are huge fan of Omega watches like me, you may also notice that this line has various sophisticated models available for discerning ladies. The ladies’ Constellation watches are avaible in at least five sizes including 24, 27, 24, 35 and 38mm to fit into a vast range of wrists. Various materials from steel to gold and lots of colors including purple, champagne , black and white are applied to offer vast options to women.What is more, this line has world’s most iconic female celebrities, such as Cindy Crawford who has been working with Omega since 1995, as its ambassadors. When Omega launched Constellation from steel with quartz movements to gold with mechanical movements and diamond, I was more than sure that this line was going to be the brand’s flagship line in famale watch section.

To my knowledge, the entry-level versions house quartz movements like Swiss caliber 1376 and 1523, and the higher end models are equipped with Omega Co-Axial automatic calibers including the 8500/8501, 8520/8521 and 2500. Omega keeps the line’s signature claws and the seamless bracelet of Constellation watches. While I reserve my opinions on the claws, I can not hide my love the bracelet design that are complex in construction yet simple and elegant in appearance. Personally, I think the unique bracelet design contributes a lot to the line’s nice look. Nowadays, Constellation watches are also available in leather or rubber straps of various color options

I totally agree that Constellation contains lots of today’s most beautiful women’s watch and Omega does great job in this line. As great fusion of functions, elegance and luxury style, Omega Constellation is the right choose for women want to own luxury timepieces. The prices begin at several thousands and go up to $10,000 – $15,000 and even more for highest-end versions.

To celebrate the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, Omega specially created a gold limited chronograph watch featuring five Olympic rings style and a new type of movement modification in that year. And the style is so well- received that Omega decided to make it big. Just few days ago, Omega announced the launch of the Omega De Ville 4-Counters Co-Axial Chronograph watch that aimed to grab the market earlier 2010. And now this brand proudly released the Omega Timeless Olympic Speedmaster 5-Counter Watch which, as the name suggests, is a sexy combo of Speedmaster design features and the timeless Olympic games touch. And this new Omega watch houses the same movement as the De Ville model mentioned above.

To my knowledge, there are at least two more Seamaster and Speedmaster inspired watches are activated by the same movement. What is more, they are are members of the new Timeless Olympic collection that has Olympic design cues. Ans as fare as I know, these timepieces are all limited editions. Anyway, I am thrilled that the adorable movement can power more nice watches.

This Omega Timeless Olympic Speedmaster 5-Counter watch becomes my favorite. It is the best with simple style yet elegant look. Omega gives it the new Speedmaster case and the merits of some classic models. The dial is quite clean with few text, and looks quite retro with vintage Red Omega logo and old-fashioned Arabic numerals. And the match of arrow hour hand and dagger minute hand is classic and tasteful. The bezel with tachymetre scale is faithful to the Speedmaster style.

The watch is likely to be 42mm wide and done in stainless steel. And the case back will most likely bears the Olympics themed engraving.Beating inside the watch is the Omega Caliber 3888 Co-Axial automatic movement that provides both chronograph functions and calendar. And the watch is expected to hit stores early 2010 with a price tag around 5,380 euros.

Omega’s popular Seamaster line is joined by the Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal watch, which is limited to 1948 pieces, in memory of the year when the Seamaster line was created.

Judging from the appearance, the new watch seems have no big difference from previous models. But take a closerlook, you will find the bezel of the watch is really something. And that is the biggest shining point also the selling point of the watch. The bezel itself is made of ceramic, while its numbers and scaling is presented on liquidmetal alloy – a metallic material with a disordered, non-crystalline atomic structure. The Liquidmetal details just give off enchanting sivler glow that lighten up the whole bezel. And it is reported that, Liquidmetal alloy is three times harder than stainless steel what the 42mm case is made from, and thus is particularly resistant to scratching and corrosion.

Beneath the thick convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, there is a ceramic dial well matching the bezel. Thanks to the rich Superluminova applied on the hour indexes and hands, the dial stands out with excellent legibility in places of poor lighting.
