To celebrate its 100th anniversary, famous Italian designer Ermenegildo Zegna has chosen watch maker Girard-Perregaux to create a special watch for them. In my opinion, it is a smarter solution than designing a watch itself with the brand name on it. Obviously, it is a mutually beneficial cooperation. The name looks fine in writing, but is is a torture to pronounce it correctly. The name of Girard-Perregaux does not appear on the dial together with Zegna, but if you are a watch lover of this Swiss brand, you can easily spot that it is a Girard-Perregaux-made watch based on the style.
The case, sized at 44mm, is presented on 18k pink gold. Beating inside is the Caliber 3300-0042 automatic movement that is independently made in Girard-Perregaux house. The dial, protected by the sapphire crystal glass, features an annual calendar and a nice presentation of dials.The crescent shaped window between 4 and 6 o’clock displays the month, the subdial at 2 ‘clock tells the date, and the subdial at 9 o’clock has the running seconds. Three blue indicator come with different shapes to enhance the reading. And according to my knowledge, the design meets the modern fashion of Girard-Perregaux watches.
Personally, I love the conbination of the blue color and the rose gold-very regal and elegant. And I think, fans of the Zegna are going to love the spcial watch as well. But I am afraid fans of Girard Perregaux watches will probably turn to other complicated models in the watch line.By the way, the dial to me is like a face with weird smile. What do you think?
