1969 was a big year for Breiting watch making and for aviation. It was 169 when Breitling launched the first selfwinding chronograph movement which gave birth to and led to the development of the famous and well-received the Chrono-Matic chronographs. It was also 1969 that witnessed the first flight of the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet and that of the supersonic Concorde. In celebration of the 40th of the legendary movement, Breiting has released two exceptionl Chrono-Matic limited editions, the Chrono-Matic QP and the Chrono-Matic 1461 based on the 1969 original model. The two limited editions come with sharp looking and large size at 49mm. And they are fitted with leap-year or perpetual calendar and the circular slide rule confirms its family likeness with the Navitimer line.
The Chrono-Matic QP, limited to 125 piece world wide, is a beautiful combo of rose gold and black rubber. Its movement Breitling 29, consists of almost 500 parts. Breitling 29 displays the date, day, week, month, season, and moon phase, taking account of leap-years. In addition, it has a power reserve of 42 hours.
The Chrono-Matic 1461 is crafted from stainless steel and is limited edition to 2,000 pieces worldwide. The 1461 features a chronograph and a calendar complication that needs only one adjustment per leap year resulting in a memory of 1,461 days.(That is where the name comes from). The date, day and month are displayed on subdials by means of straight hands that accentuate the instrument panel look.
The Chrono-Matic QP is presented on an Ocean Racer rubber strap, while the 1461 is completed by a steel Sky Racer bracelet. Both models are fitted with saphire crystal at the front and are equipped with chronometer-certified movements. And the cases are water resistant to 30meters.
Like all Breitling watches , both of these limited editions are equipped with chronometer-certified movements.”
