Patek Philippe is world’s No.1 luxury watch brand producing thrillingly expensive and ultimate refined timepieces. The Calatrava, created in 1932, is regarded by many as one the most classic Patek Philippe watch lines. This year, Patek Philippe enriches the Calatrava collection with the launch of the ref. 5153 Calatrava officer’s watch.
Patek Philippe the Ref. 5153 Calatrava Officer’s Watch
This latest calatrava watch is presented on 18k yellow gold. The case is 38mm at diameter, 2mm larger than the ref. 5053 released in 2001. The case is a perfect blend of the Calatrava and officer’s watch style. The Bassine-style bezel is extremely smooth and beautiful as a result of highly refined polishing. The meticulously-crafted crown is of turban style which brings a touch of retro feel. The transparent case back is protected from scratches and dust by a a hinged back cover. And the straight lugs features round ends with exposed screws that firmly hold the brown strap together with the body.

The silvery opaline dial features a hand-guilloche sunburst pattern at the center and gold arrow-shaped hour markers. It simply displays a set of three hands, date window at 3 and a beautiful minute track with gilt minute pearls. The layout is extremely clear and comfortable, one of the best I have seen on Patek Philippe watches.
Patek Philippe the Ref. 5153 Calatrava Officer’s Watch-Face/Dial
This extremely beautiful watch is powered by Caliber 324 S C, a self-winding mechanical movements with 29 jewels and a power reserve of 45 hours. This movement features a 21k gold unidirectional-winding central rotor. Like all Patek Philippe mechanical movement, this movement keeps time at a regular rate in a range between -3 and +2 seconds per day. Open the hinged back cover, you can admire the beauty of this exquisitely adorned movement.
The ref. 5153 Calatrava officer’s watch, in eyes of mine, is the best Calatrava watch ever made. And time will tell that it could be added to the lists of World’s best dress watches. Time will definitely tell.
The 5253 will be available in July and it estimated that its retail price is around $25,800.
